A food forest (or forest garden) is a diverse grouping of mostly edible, mostly perennial plants. Once established a food forest is low maintenance, lush, and yields lots of food. This small (max. 12 participants) in-person food forest tour & class is excellent for gardeners who want to explore the idea of planting a backyard food forest.

  • How to select a location for your backyard food forest.

  • How to prepare the soil before planting.

  • The different layers of a food forest.

  • What plants to use in our challenging climate.

  • Some basics about food forest installation.

After this class you’ll receive:

  • A food forest info sheet

  • A list of food forest plants ideal for cold climate gardening

Date: Saturday, July 3rd - 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Format: In-person class in the Sunset neighbourhood of Cochrane, address to be shared after purchase.
